On October 14 Tianyu and South Huiton in China unveiled China's first micro-drive PMP handset, which uses South Huiton's 1-inch, 6GB micro-drive, ADI's GSM/GPRS baseband chip, and TI's multimedia chip. Capable of playing 720x480 resolution video at 30 frames per second with compatibility for AVI, MP4, DivX, WAV9, and Quicktime6 formats, the handset can transfer DVD signal to TVs. Besides a 2.8-inch, 260,000 color TFT-LCD display, it also contains a 2MP CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) sensor which supports up to 5MP. A high capacity battery is provided which is said to have a three-hour video playback time or 12 hours for music playback.
